WOYWW 273: Project Life, Ampersand, and New Goodies

Greetings and felicitations to all friends visiting today! I've got my 2014 Project Life album open and I've been adding months' worth of ephemera to the pockets. I have to go back and put in journaling and I've got lots of weeks' worth of photos still to edit and get prints of, but it's all good. :)

This is a home decor item I made, inspired by a project from May Flaum. The edges of the ampersand are still white -- I may go back and make them the same color as the front -- I haven't decided. I may also go back and add a little metallic silver paint here and there. I can't decide, so I'm leaving it alone while I ponder. 

The craft store had some good sales going on when I visited -- the stamps and punches were all on sale and I had a coupon to use on the ink pad. So, only the package of journaling cards was full price.

WOYWW 215 | What I Bought on Vacation

Here's my desk this morning. I'm trying to finagle a tag I like for Tim's July challenge that I could use for something other than just 4th of July . . . and I don't have any of his dies . . . so I'm just puddling around. 

And I thought I'd show some goodies I bought while we were visiting family in NC (of course I had to find a local scrapbook store, didn't I?) :-) 

The alphabet stamp set, in particular, is going to be really useful, as well as those tiny alphabet stickers.

Happy WOYWW #138!

A quick note to say that I do try to visit a bunch of fellow WOYWWers each week, but last week experienced a lot of Blogger comment issues.  Basically, I'd type in the security code and it would keep telling me I'd typed it wrong.  On one blog I tried about ten times, to no avail.  I'll comment where I can!

What's on my workdesk this week, you ask?  A Unity stamp set that I was gifted with this week, that I've taken out of its packaging, stripped that white paper backing off of, and am now going to repackage in smaller bags so it fits in my pricey stamp storage bucket ($2.50 at Target -- and I'm now thinking I should buy another one!)  I used to store my stamps in binders and I just never used them.  If they're out where I can grab them, I use them much more.  

I took the picture before bed last night, so no shots of my neighborhood this week. :)

 

This is a layout I made over the weekend using some of the Amy Tangerine papers I'd been hoarding.  

This journaling paper is from one of those Smash pads, which Michael's just began stocking (a whole year after they came out, but I shouldn't complain, right?)  I'm doing a pseudo-Project Life this year and this will be added to this week's page.

WOYWW #136 | What's on your work table Wednesday

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  I think this is my 4th WOYWW and I really enjoy seeing what everyone else is up to.  To check out others' spaces, visit Stamping Ground.


 I often deliberately set up "what's next" on the table so it's tempting and easy to jump in after work if my daughter and husband are doing their own puttering.  (I took this picture before work this morning because by the time I get home, it's dark.) The finished cards and layout are in other posts -- you can either click a link to the left (where recent posts are queued up) or click a thumbnail image to the right to find what looks interesting to you.

June acquisitions

This is a continuing series, showing what I added to my supplies in a given month.  I do it as much for a memory aid as anything else, to remind me what I've got on hand that might not be in plain sight. 

I was excited to see Glimmer Mist at my Hobby Lobby -- first time I've seen this product in a local store. I've wanted the Hero Arts hydrangea stamp for ages -- one of my favorite flowers and this stamp is so detailed.  The American Crafts rub-ons were a bargain find -- I don't use rub-ons very often.  The arrow punch was a bargain find, too, at a store called Tuesday Morning.  I'd never been in it before, but someone online mentioned occasionally finding treasures there.  I think it's hit or miss.  There are some Tim Holtz Harlequin embossed grungeboard letters there that I may go back and acquire -- the package is $7.99 and the original price of the item was $19.99.

Apparently it was "all Tim Holtz, all the time" month.  I was thrilled to see new TH stamps and paper at Michael's!

I've already used 17 of the items shown above, which I'm pretty happy with.  I don't feel guilty buying supplies if I'm actually using them up on cards and layouts.  :-)

March 2011 Acquisitions

I bought a lot of patterned paper this month: Crate Paper, Graphic 45, Girls' Paperie, etc. As I type this in June, I've used all or part of 7 sheets of the paper.  I've also used one of the border stickers, some of the Remarks letter stickers, some of the blank cards, and some of the Distress Stickles.  (I'm trying to be better about buying stuff I will actually use.  What a concept, right?)

February 2011 Acquisitions

I periodically post pictures of the supplies I've added as a way of reminding myself what I've got and might not have used yet.  As I peruse the image now in June, I can say that I've used everything in the picture at least once.  It will take a long time to use all the Prima flowers, but purple is one of my favorite colors, so I'm not worried.  The square that looks empty represents Bazzill French Vanilla cardstock.  :)

These are a few of my favorite things. . .

I enjoy reading about products that other scrapbookers and cardmakers love and I think I'll make this a recurring series of posts.  For today: two alphabet products.  

I really love the Natalee alphabet stamp set made by Studio Calico.  It is large enough to use for titles on layouts, but not so large that you couldn't use it on the front of a card.  The letters stamp very cleanly.

The October Afternoon black and cream Sticky Keys alphabet stickers are awesome.  I love the current trend of vintage typewriter images and fonts that resemble the output from old school typewriters.  I am finally getting smart and buying two packages of alphas when I find one I really like, since things do tend to sell out quickly sometimes.  This product is great for masculine cards (I plan to use them on Father's Day cards) and vintage-style layouts, but I don't think they are so vintage in appearance that they couldn't be used elsewhere.  

Are there any alphabet stamps, stickers, etc. that you would recommend?  Please share in the comments!  :-)
