WOYWW 277: Working on Project Life

Along with lots of other craft-minded folks, I'm linking up today with the What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday blog hop. 

I've pulled almost everything else off the table (except the basket of stickers and embellishments at the upper right) so I can spread out and work on Project Life. I'm relatively caught up with getting pictures printed up and very, very, very far behind on adding in any journaling. But I'll get there eventually. I have been pretty good about saving lots of ephemera this year, so between that and the pictures, I should be able to fill things in to some degree.

WOYWW 275

I'm playing along with What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday today. Here's my desk on Tuesday evening. On the left is a card I just finished making. Just above that is the Hero Arts stamp set I used. On the right side of the desk is the minibook I'm putting together for LSNED (see prior post) and a ton of stamps and stencils to be cleaned. 

This is a picture of the card -- I took it over under the lamp to get better light, but the angle looks odd. :)

Here are two other cards I made over the weekend -- I used 6x6 papers and a one inch square punch to make them. A little time consuming, but I really like the look.

LSNED 2014 | Post 1

I'm participating in Shimelle Laine's Learn Something New Every Day class for the third year in a row. In prior years I made a minibook and did a lot of writing based on the daily prompts. This year I wanted to play along, but do something totally different. I'm trying a new technique or creative idea each day (and will forgo the writing part of the class.) Like lots of folks, I've got tons of great ideas pinned in Pinterest, but rarely take the time to make something based on that inspiration. So, I'm pretty excited about trying out thirty new things this month!

WOYWW 274: Cardapalooza

This is my desk as of 9:30 PM Tuesday evening. On the desk you will see a pad of patterned paper and the DIY minibook I'm putting together for Shimelle's Learn Something New Every Day. This is my third year, so I'm turning it into a *create* something new every day challenge for myself. I inked a piece of scrap cardstock with Distress ink, dried it, and misted through a stencil with water. Cool effect that seems to work better with darker ink. 

I've had a chance to play with my new Tim Holtz stamp and die set that I got last week and made four birthday cards with it so far, the two on the hot pink cardstock are for two of  my nieces and I made two of the design on the more vintage paper, for my sister-in-law and my Mom for next year. I love being able to cut the various parts of the cupcake image out of different papers -- there's even a die for the flame! 

This final card was a "quickie" for one of my sisters who has just gotten a new job -- patterned paper, an Amy Tangerine sticker, and American Crafts rub-on. 

Simon Says Stamp challenge: Be Bold

This week the SSS Monday Challenge blog design team is being bold with bright ink, large stamps, or both!  I made a card and used the brightest orange ink I have -- Spiced Marmalade distress ink -- and used Versamark on glossy cardstock to make a resist. This card is for my nephew -- I like to send back-to-school cards to my nephew and nieces when I can make the time for it, since I don't see them as often as I'd like. 

 

 

 

 

Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2014: September

It seemed like a good idea to make my September tag today, since if I don't make it early in the month I often forget! Here's a link to Tim's. 

I used a different resist technique since I didn't have the alcohol blending solution on hand that Tim used. I used Versamark on glossy cardstock with a new TH stencil, which I adore. I don't have a lot of large focal point stamps (and didn't have the face stamp that Tim used) so I decided to make a Christmas tag! The Santa stamp is TH, the music stamp & text stickers are Cosmo Cricket, and the small stars are TH rub-ons.
