What I've Made Lately

I was glad to use up this butterfly patterned paper which had been in the scrap drawer forever. It's pretty, but I gave myself permission to discard the rest of it. 

I really liked adding the butterfly detail to the inside of the card. 

This was probably scrapbooked more for me than anyone else -- it's kind of fun to remember how different things were when I was kid. In the days of film, it really wouldn't have occurred to anyone to take a picture of the family's telephone and get it developed for posterity. I had to locate a photo online that had a Creative Commons license. The phone dial stamp is from Unity and the phone stamp is from Claudine Hellmuth. 

As soon as I saw this Amy Tangerine paper I knew I wanted to use it for a quotes page. I used to scribble down the cute things my wee girl said and it's so fulfilling to me to record them in such a fun way. My daughter enjoyed reading this page and giggling over the things that she said.

Vacation layout

I'm sure the hotel chain would be happy to know their branded stuff was so attractive that I kept it to scrapbook with. :)  I'm happy to have actually used the hotel-related ephemera that I brought home, and that Washington D.C. on the map is highlighted with the arrow and stars. :)

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 163 (WOYWW)

Happy Wednesday! It's that magical day each week wherein some of the world's artists and crafters show each other "what's up" on our work tables. This party is hosted by Mrs. Julia, so hop on over there to see her post and a list of other participants to visit. 

My big news this week is that I'm back in my room!  Hip, hip, hooray! Here are some pictures. There are a few details to attend to eventually (something for the windows -- I gave the other shades to my daughter -- and a desk chair -- the matching one had longstanding "issues") -- but I'm very happy with it.

Here is the table, set up in a similar way to the way it was before. The bin holding my stamps was my color inspiration for the walls. :) I have fewer punches on the windowsills, deciding to use that space differently. I don't have anything started at the moment; the piles of stuff are memorabilia and pictures from our Washington DC trip last May. 


Where a somewhat cluttered and messy card table once stood, I've instead moved one of the bookcases. Not sure whether the heart canvas will stay there. 


One of my favorite details: the cut glass dishes holding embellishments. I had the one in the center before and found the other two at a garage sale over the weekend. 



My desk. It's a reproduction, obviously, but I'm fond of it. 


Another bookcase and a piece of DIY furniture from Target. The lamp has a design on the shade when lit that is very pretty. I wish the drawer unit on top had fit in the unit, but it's slightly too big.

Change to blog layout -- opinions?

I saw a new set of Typepad "themes" were available and decided to switch from the one I'd been using for quite some time. While I'm a halfway decent photographer and have made web graphics in the past, I haven't prioritized making my own header for this blog. (So many priorities, so little time!)

I like the pale grey chevron at the outer edges and Aqua is a current favorite color -- I find it slightly obnoxious that all the hyperlinks are aqua, too. Let me know if it's "too much," ok?

Weekend layout & a card

I'm not 100% in love with the design of this page . . . but I like the page overall, since I got to die cut a word out of a tag with my new Papertrey Ink dies. Also, that picture in the middle of the page where my little girl is smiling and the sun is behind her just melts my heart. 

This card almost made itself -- Pink Paislee patterned paper for the background and the green parts of the flower (from the back side of the same sheet.) I used Beautiful Blooms II dies for the flower.

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 161 (WOYWW)

Top o' the mornin' to you, visiting friends. :-) And happy 4th of July to the U.S. contingent. I'm off from work and just getting around to posting. I'm sorry that I didn't get around to many desks last week -- I plan to keep Julia's post open in my browser today and hopefully get to a bunch! Maybe WOYWW should be a holiday every week?? :)

The photos are as "authentic" as I could get (company in the house, so the desk picture was done Monday, and the layout last night). Here's my work table with a layout in progress:

Isn't this embossed cardstock lovely? I found it in our local Joann's store -- it's from a designer named Elsie from 2006. And the patterned paper is some I've been hoarding from Heidi Grace's baby girl line. I've got about 7 more sheets of this design, so buckle up -- you'll be seeing it again.  lol
