Happy Wednesday, everyone! Thanks for visiting me. :) Today we have a very light dusting of snow on the ground and a few small projects on the table (well, and my breakfast yogurt -- ha, ha!)
I made this layout over the weekend and I kind of like to prop them up for a bit to look at before putting them in an album. I had the 8x8 Sidewalks paper pad and decided to pick up some stickers to go with it -- I think this will help me use it up better.
I don't have any stencils at the moment, so decided to try misting through the edge of a (non-valuable) lace handkerchief.
I was just playing here, as you can tell from my high quality doodling. I used the crayon as a resist and used distress stain over it. I think I liked it better before I misted over the top with water, but still an interesting experiment.
I am utterly and completely Valentined out, but Tim Holtz posted his tag of February to the blog and I'm probably going to finish this and post it. I can completely understand his motivation for retiring the 12 Tags of Christmas project and now doing the 12 Tags of 2012, and he's marvelously generous with his time to post these lengthy tutorials, for sure. I'll confess here, among friends, that I felt a pang of sadness at the change.
I love your page - its a good idea to stand it up and look at it for a while. Using a lace hanky as a stencil is a good idea and the wax crayon as a resist. I'm not good at thinking 'outside the box'. Thank you for visiting my desk and leaving nice comments xx

I love those papers, how funny that I have that one with the children on it, on a layout on my desk too! Its great to have a play and experiment, I never make time to do that but I really must.

Love the misting through the handkerchief - what a good idea (much better than a 'proper' stencil) (Hazel, WOYW #136) x

Great idea to prop it up and admire for a bit. We put all this work into our layouts, we deserve a few days to bask in the glory of our creations.
Inventive idea to spray through the lace cloth...

Ah but change is good really, and be honest, the 12 tags of christmas come at such the wrong time!!
Misting through the lace worked so well..get down to the bakery aisle and buy some doilies..double whammy, misted stencilled tags and beautifully coloured lacey doilies for mounting and journalling etc.
