12 Tags of Christmas 2011: Day Nine

It's day nine and apparently I've gone off the rails.  hahahahahahahaha  There is a logic to this tag, which I'll explain in a moment.  First, go here to check out Tim's tag.  He used a Hero Arts background stamp (as did I).  He used two of the limited edition distress inks, which I substituted for with Pine Needles and Barn Door.  Then he added the word Peace with die cut letters (I substituted the word cut from one of his papers), and then added a die cut candle adorned with greenery.  Here's where I went renegade.  I added a clock face cut from one of Tim's papers and added Glossy Accents, mainly because it matched the clocks on the background.  Then I was at a loss. . . but then my theme became analog technology!  I added the phone and the cassette tape (Cosmo Cricket chipboard) and distressed them with Walnut Stain ink.

I accidentally dragged the white ornament through some ink on my craft sheet, so decided to go with it.  :)

12 Tags of Christmas 2011: Day Eight

Well, today was Christmas meets steam punk over on Tim Holtz's blog.  I really don't have anything in that realm, so I used a few things that matched, and then improvised something.  I had distress ink and resist card stock, but no metal stuff to speak of, so I did some metallic embossing.  :)  

12 Tags of Christmas 2011: Day Seven

Lots of substituting today.  I was happy to have the Joyful Christmas stamp -- I really like this one.  I didn't have black embossing powder, so it's just stamped with Jet Black archival.  The tinsel ribbon on the top was scavenged from the handle of a gift bag, and the bauble is Pink Paislee/House of Three.  I made the leaves by adhering tissue paper to cardstock with matte medium, then inking with Peeled Paint distress stain. It worked pretty well, but I learned that you have to dab on the stain.  If you rub, then you started rubbing holes in the wet tissue paper (not surprisingly.) I then used a circle punch to make the leaf shape.  The buttons are from Papertrey Ink and the doily is from the dollar store.  I misted everything with gold Perfect Pearls mist. I actually remembered to take a picture in the morning before work, instead of at night, not that it makes a huge difference to the light source, as you can tell.  But it's rain and not snow, so I'll deal with the fog! :)

Stamps to put away

My very simple December Daily pages (the Santa page will be the title page; underneath (not shown) are the 4x6 picture holders that I'm using for the "pages"; the bits sitting on top are ready to go in their slots; I hooked the pages together with rings for the month so they won't slither all over the table and make me say bad words under my breath)

The focal point stamp Tim H. used on today's stamp and my trusty Jet Black archival ink pad.  

Tissue paper and Distress Stain, that I'm going to figure out a way to make holly leaves with.  Wish me luck! (Maybe use gesso and stick the tissue paper to cardstock, cut out the leaves by hand -- yikes! -- and then use the stain to color them???)

And over to the left of my work table, the first six tags hanging out. :-)

Placeholder for December Daily

I've been trying to keep up with both December Daily and 12 Tags, but have gotten slightly behind with posting about both.  Can't imagine why.  ;-)  I'll post my DD Day 5 & 6 later today.  

12 Tags of Christmas 2011: Day Six

I used tinfoil (don't have any foil tape) over glossy cardstock, embossed with snowflake texture fade, inked with blue alcohol ink (don't have any paint dabbers).  I pondered whether to add other colors of alcohol ink, but I didn't think either the red or the green would make for lovely snowflakes -- ha, ha.  I used the sanding grip to sand the raised snowflakes a little bit, but the tinfoil was really fragile.  The placement of the red ornament covers where I ripped it a little.  :)  Then I thought I needed something else, so added the strip of punched cardstock with the word Joy.  To check out Tim's tag, go here.

 

 

Here's a bonus tag, because I wanted to try out the technique Tim used for the 25 die cut into the snowman's belly the other day.  I like how this came out, but I think with a wider space it is more difficult to have a uniform depth of the Glossy Accents.  Mine is not even at all.  I'm not sure how you would make it level. . . I'll ponder that another day. :)
