Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger challenge: Finesse the Dress

I looked at the trigger photo on Cath's blog on Tuesday and didn't look at it again until now.  I figured I might take it more in my own direction that way, instead of feeling like I must include every element. (I can be so "left brain" at times.) What stuck in my mind was the deep turquoise color and the swirls of gold.

Supplies: Bazzill cardstock (Blue Calypso); Versamark ink; Papertrey Ink clear stamps (Tree Trimming Trio); gold embossing powder; Recollections brads

I really like how this stamp from Hero Arts, which has a distressed look to it, looks on the textured side of the American Crafts cardstock.  I tried it on the smooth side, too, but I liked this better.

This card will be winging its way to Janelle's house for her birthday.  It likely won't arrive on time, since it just went in the mail.  Happy Birthday, Janelle, if you should happen to see this! :-)

(I noticed the pearls were not adhered evenly after I took the picture and moved them around a bit and added some Glossy Accents.  Hope they stay on in the mail.)

One-Layer Wednesday #66

I've never participated in One-Layer Wednesday before, but this week the challenge is to find inspiration in a creation of Janelle's!  

I chose this card (the blog post is here) for my inspiration piece:

Originally I tried to emulate the three color stamping, but it didn't work out well.  I tried to use three different botanical stamps and they were too dissimilar to look good together.  So, here is take two!

The flower stamp is Hero Arts Hydrangea (K5376) -- I adore this stamp.  I stamped with Versamark and clear embossed it.  The sentiment is Hero Arts All Occasion Messages (CL272) stamped with Jet Black Archival Ink.  I included scoring on the card, but I accidentally scored on the wrong end of the card (I'd already folded it in half, so couldn't flip it.)

Happy WCMD [and a card for Tuesday Trigger challenge]

Happy World Cardmaking Day, everyone!  Hope you've had a chance to make something today.  

I love this week's Tuesday Trigger photo from Moxie Fab World -- check it out: 


 There are enough lovely elements here for a handful of cards.  I chose a few to highlight on my card: the red and white check design, the pink vintage-looking button, the bird, and the doily.  I stamped the bird and flowers with Versamark and used clear embossing powder and the heat gun to emboss them.  I inked over them with Broken China Distress Ink.  The wing was cut from a scrap of patterned paper.  The ribbon is American Crafts and the letters are October Afternoon.  The doily was from a dollar store package and I think I may have rescued the button off a project of my daughter's that we were getting rid of.  (Sshhhh!)
